Hear Directly from Candidates via TVW’s 2012 Video Voters’ Guide

TVWOlympia, WA – Voters can watch unedited video statements from candidates for 12 statewide elected offices ­– on statewide cable TV and online at tvw.org -- via the 2012 Video Voters’ Guide produced by TVW in conjunction with the Washington Secretary of State.

The 2012 Video Voters’ Guide includes statements from candidates for the following offices:

  • United State Senate
  • Governor
  • Lieutenant Governor
  • Secretary of State
  • State Auditor
  • Attorney General
  • Commissioner of Public Lands
  • Superintendent of Public Instruction
  • Insurance Commissioner
  • State Supreme Court Justice, Position No. 2
  • State Supreme Court Justice, Position No. 8
  • State Supreme Court Justice, Position No. 9

TVW began televising the 2012 Video Voters’ Guide this week.  TVW is on statewide cable TV – channel locations here: tvw.org/channels.  All candidate statements are available on-line on-demand at tvw.org/2012-video-voters-guide.  Like all TVW coverage, candidate video statements may be embedded free of charge on any website.

All statewide candidates were invited to tape statements, and approximately 75% of candidates participated.  Later this summer TVW will tape statements from proponents and opponents of statewide ballot measures.  Those video statements will begin airing by Labor Day.

Often called the Washington state version of C-SPAN, TVW is a private nonprofit statewide cable TV network that provides unedited gavel-to-gavel television coverage of state government, elections, and public policy events.  The network also offers produced programs like “Inside Olympia,” “The Impact,” “Legislative Review,” and “Well Read.”  Cable television carries TVW for free, reaching 99% of the cable households in Washington.  Viewers can watch all TVW programs on-line on-demand at tvw.org.
